Raids uncover drugs and weapons
MORE than 170 marijuana plants and a haul of unregistered weapons were found in raids over seven properties north of Maryborough on Tuesday.
Childers police arrested seven people after targeting properties in North Gregory, Apple Tree Creek, Woodgate and Childers.
The community is believed to have helped with the operation after providing information.
“We’ve been receiving real quality information at the station and from Crime Stoppers,” Childers Senior Constable Frank Lawler said.
“Without it, we wouldn’t be getting results like this.”
One mature marijuana plant and 172 smaller plants in pots were seized from a Newlands Road plantation, along with an unregistered 12-gauge shotgun and a .22-calibre rifle.
Police believe another crop had just been harvested prior to their raid.
“You could see where the other plants had been,” Snr Const Lawler said.
Police also seized a crossbow and a pair of nunchucks from a man, 22, after a raid on a Woodgate Beach home, while marijuana and utensils were found in the possession of his male housemate, 19.
More marijuana and utensils were seized from a man, 28, at another Woodgate Beach residence.
At Apple Tree Creek, police interviewed a man, 29, and a woman, 26, at two separate houses in relation to possession of marijuana and utensils, and also detained a woman, 23, living in Ridgeway Street, Childers.
All will appear in Childers Magistrates Court on November 19.
A man, 19, and two youths, 14 and 17, found in possession of marijuana and utensils in West Street will undergo a drug-diversion program.
