Drunken smash lands woman off road for a year
A 39-YEAR-old woman was lucky to be alive after a drunken crash in the early hours of August 8.
Rhana Ruth Barford was left injured and trapped in her vehicle after driving while more than four times over the legal blood alcohol limit.
"You're lucky, very lucky, and so is the rest of the community," Magistrate Graeme Tatnell said when Barford faced the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court.
Police prosecutor Michael Quirk said Barford had been drinking alcohol before the crash when her vehicle left the road, rolled and wedged against a tree off Oleander Ave at Kawungan at 2am.
Barford blew .219%.
She was fined $1500 and disqualified from driving for 12 months.
ROBERT James Morrison of Urangan was caught driving unlicensed and over the limit on August 22.
Morrison blew .075%.
He pleaded guilty to the two charges at Hervey Bay Magistrates Court.
Magistrate Graeme Tatnell fined Morrison $500 and disqualified him from driving for a total of four months.
A 67-YEAR-old learner driver has lost his licence and it will be another year before he can go for his learner's licence again.
Glen Ronald Hurren of Kawungan blew .177% when pulled over by police at Toogoom on August 6.
As an unaccompanied learner driver Hurren was fined $1750 and disqualified for 12 months following his appearance in the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court.
WHEN Capri Ripeneta Rangihaeata of Urraween was caught driving unaccompanied on a learner's licence last month, she was also drink-driving.
Rangihaeata blew .057% when pulled over on Caddy Ave.
She was fined $500 and disqualified from driving for three months.
CAITLIN Louise McDonald, 20, of Urangan, blew .075% when she was pulled over by police in an uninsured and unregistered vehicle on July 12.
McDonald was fined a total of $700 and disqualified for one month during her appearance in the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court.
