Egg-citing discovery of egg three times the normal weight
AN EGG-CITING discovery of a massive chicken egg at a Dundowran farm has set tongues wagging across the Fraser Coast.
The egg-stravagantly large egg weighed in about 186g, more than three times the weight of an average egg.
On cracking the monstrous egg it was discovered that contained a completely intact egg - shell and all - along with a double yolk.
Fraser Coast Organic Eggs worker Jodi Alexander said the enormous egg had turned heads all morning at their market stall.
"We've got about 60,000 chickens and we've never seen one this big," Ms Alexander said.
"An average egg is about 55g and this one is more than three times that weight.
"It's got an entire shelled egg inside of it too."
The egg-cellent discovery was made by a worker at the organic farm on Wednesday, Ms Alexander said.
"We've had another one close to this big," she said.
"But this is definitely the largest one we've had."
