WATCH: Dundowran resident goes viral with a spider on face

LISA Donovan fell in love with Australia when she moved here eight years ago with her now husband.

But it wasn't the natural landscapes which caught the expatriate eye - it was the insects.

When she first camped out on a veranda in Queensland's "middle of no where", Lisa said she was blown away by the size of the grasshoppers she saw.

"The insects here are giant and nothing like back in Indiana," she said with a grin.

The hobby entomologist who writes her own blog on insects, photographs them and lets her three kids play with them, is now an internet sensation.

Her YouTube video which shows off a golden orb spider creeping across her face has already struck 24,000 views since it's posting a week ago.

While comments online suggest many are impressed by the daring stunt, Lisa said it was no big deal.

"Anybody who studies arachnology who watched the video would just roll their eyes," she said.
