Edna's 99th a family affair

BORN-AND-BRED Maryborough local Edna Peacan celebrated her birthday surrounded by family yesterday – five generations to be precise.

“I’m very fortunate – it’s been such a lovely day,” she said.

Ms Peacan, who spent most of her life in Maryborough but now calls Hervey Bay’s Baycrest home, turned 99 on Friday.

Five generations – from daughter Noela to three-week-old great-great-grandson Elijah – gathered yesterday for a family party to celebrate the milestone.

Ms Peacan celebrated with fellow Baycrest residents and friends on Thursday.
