Electricity relief may be on way after working group formed

FRASER Coast residents could receive a small reprieve from skyrocketing electricity prices after a Tariff Reform Working Group was formed.

Member for Maryborough Anne Maddern said the group would look at all tariffs, including the major domestic tariffs, to ensure electricity use patterns suited the existing tariff structure.

Energy Minister Mark McArdle said the peak demand period had increased by more than 200% in the past 30 years.

He said he expected the tariff reforms to begin in July next year.
