The highway has reopened now after a crash closed it for several hours. A truck and a car collided, with two people having to be freed from the car and the other treated for a minor hand injury.

UPDATE

The Bruce Highway is still closed after a crash between a car and a truck. Diversions are in place along Munbura Rd and Sarina-Homebush Rd.

A QAS spokeswoman said they had treated three patients. The truck driver self-extricated and was treated for a minor hand injury.

The two people in the vehicle have been freed and transported to Mackay Base Hospital.

One of the people from the car may have received head injuries, while the other received no significant injuries.

INITIAL

THE Bruce Hwy is closed in both directions after a truck and car crashed near the intersection of Munbura Rd and the highway, between Mac's Truckstop and the Puma Petrol Station.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said they received the call at 1.50pm today.
