AT the tender age of three, little Ethan Hough knows what the spirit of Christmas is all about.

He is giving away a huge collection of toys to make sure other needy children won't miss out on Christmas morning.

The superhero fan has put together his figurines, Batmobile, comics and toys as one big present.

He said it made him sad to find out other children didn't have anything at Christmas and he wanted to help.

"When I was a little boy someone else gave me toys when I didn't have any," he said.

"Some kids don't have any."

Mum Tamara Appleby said the gift of giving was a way for Ethan to do something special.

"We've been talking about how he is lucky to have what he has. Some people don't have homes or food," she said.

"He saw a giving display in a shopping centre and decided to help."

Ms Appleby said Ethan, who turns four on Valentines Day next year, had shown just how big his heart was.

"He wanted to give away almost everything.

"He is such a kind, happy boy," she said.

"We have had help in the past from a charity so this is just amazing."

He chose the Christmas haul from his favourite Captain America, Avengers and Ironman collection.

About 60 Thomas the Tank Engine books had already been picked up by a mother for her 26-year-old son with autism.

Only one of these books was in the original sack of give-aways, but Ethan chose to give them all away when he heard how much they would be loved.

The family took to social media to find a family needing the toys Ethan had donated, with residents quickly praising his goodwill.
