Event aims to give CBD a spruce-up

IT’S TIME to don the gloves and grab a broom because Maryborough needs a spring clean.

Sunday, November 14 is the day when business owners, councillors and the general public can get busy sprucing up the CBD in an effort to attract more shoppers to the town.

Organisers of the event are already pleasantly surprised at the number of people who have registered for the spring clean – but more are always welcome.

The event aims to revitalise Maryborough’s CBD and has been organised by the Chamber of Commerce and the Fraser Coast Regional Council.

All participants will sign up with the council in the morning so they are covered by insurance.

But it won’t be all hard work and no play.

Everyone is invited to a free sausage sizzle after the clean-up – courtesy of Coolreagh Meats and the Maryborough Rotary Club – and drinks and entertainment are provided.

Call the council to RSVP for catering purposes: 1300 79 49 29.

The clean-up starts at 8am. Participants should assemble at the Town Hall and come prepared with hat, sunscreen and gloves.

Cleaning supplies and equipment will be provided by the council.
