Exotic Hervey Bay getaway awarded

AN EXOTIC getaway without the burden of overseas travel is the hook Hervey Bay's Grange Resort owner Peter Butler believes has got holiday makers rating his Urangan hotel among the best in the country.

The Grange ranked number four in the 2014 Trip Advisor Traveller's Choice Awards, up with Fraser Island's Seventy-Mile Beach which made the top 25 best beaches in Australia.

Delighted to receive the news yesterday, Mr Butler, who runs the resort with his wife Belinda, said a swim-up bar (the only one on the Fraser Coast), sprawling gardens and large villas were among the features which gave travellers a Balinese style experience in their own backyard.

Cleanliness, friendly service, close proxminity to the beach and the option of bringing your pets were trending favourites in the reviews which put the Hervey Bay ahead of Hamilton Island and Port Douglas.

"It's overwhelming...not expected and we are verygrateful," Mr Butler said

"Urangan is becoming more populare in general and here you are close to the shopping centre and beach and have villas which can sleep up to eight people."

Seventy-Five Mile Beach placed the list which was topped by Whitehaven.
