PresCare plans extra units on vacant lot next to Yaralla

PRESCARE will develop an extra 25 affordable accommodation units on a block of vacant land next to Yaralla Place nursing home.

The land was part of the sale of the nursing home and was key to taking over the state-run facility, PresCare chief executive officer Greg Skelton said.

Mr Skelton said PresCare had entered applications to the Federal Government and would need to await approval before it could begin building or announce a timeline of when the units would be opened.

"We're at the mercy of the government to a certain extent," he said.

The not-for-profit group has already begun building 24 similar units at its Groundwater Lodge aged care home in Granville.

The two-bedroom units are expected to be finished by the end of October and will feed directly into the Groundwater Lodge.

The units will be available to be residents over the age of 65.
