THE book that tells the story of the people who helped shape the Fraser Coast was launched officially on Monday to positive reception.

Faces that Shaped a Region will be sold at the Chronicle offices in Maryborough and Hervey Bay, and selected newsagencies at $12.95.

Editor of the publication Alan Betteridge said the book was a collaborative effort from Chronicle journalists, the sales and advertising team and various companies.

"The book is so well received," he said.

"We had people from the Sunshine Coast who used to live in Maryborough buying the book as Christmas gifts."

Mr Betteridge said the book had hit a spot with a lot of people.

"There's a lot of information on the featured people that people never knew about," he said.
