A FALLING gumtree has squashed a Darling Downs worker.

Toowoomba's RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter flew to a rural property 5km south east of Warwick at 1.43pm yesterday.

The patient was a 34-year-old male who sustained suspected chest and limb injuries after a gumtree fell on him while he was clearing it.

The man cut the tree for a mulching machine that they were operating, when the tree suddenly fell in a direction contrary to his desired projection.

CareFlight crew members said that the patient's colleague quickly cut the injured man free and cared for him while medical teams arrived.
