False alarm for crews called to structural fire

TWO crews from the Torquay Station had a 000 call to a house fire on Tooth St just before 6am Wednesday only to discover a false alarm. 

Acting Station Officer Brendan Fitzgerald said the 000 call was made from a someone on the Esplanade, so suspicions were raised from fire communications. 

Officer Fitzgerald said only one 000 call was made when usually they receive multiple calls for an emergency like this. 

He said Queensland Fire and Emergency Services do not tolerate malicious false alarms like this. 

Crews were made aware of the false alarm while on their way to Tooth St.
