Coast talent on Project Runway
HAVE you met Miss Manfield? Don't worry, you're about to. And so is Australia.
Part of the next crop of talented designers to feature on season four of popular TV show Project Runway, Coast girl Natashya Manfield can already count Megan Gale among her fans.
The supermodel, who plays host and judge on the fashion show, has described Natashya as a very driven designer whose passion for fashion and design shows in everything she does.
"She's a beautiful colourful character. She's very intricate with her work, attention to detail is a strong quality of hers," Gale said.
It's high praise indeed, although Natashya has been around fashion all her life and sees Project Runway as an opportunity to push herself and learn more about her craft from professionals.
"I like to challenge myself and I wanted a different context in which to work as well as meet some great people and hear their feedback," she said.
"The experience has really made me more self-aware and reflective about my goals and where I see my label and my business going."
Her first collection Lovers Lane, released under her self-titled label, was an ode to a woman's strength and vulnerability and combined lingerie and fashion techniques to reveal and conceal the body in a way that celebrated a woman's body.
The collection sold out which gave Natashya the confidence to take the next step and open her first store, Miss Manfield at Mooloolaba.
On Friday she continued to further her fashion dreams by opening her second store, Mr Manfield, near Mooloolaba Surf Club.
Natashya said her first collection for men included plenty of bold fabric and classic silhouettes.
"I didn't think I would be working on a men's line so soon," she said.
"The best is yet to come."
Project Runway Australia will return to TV screens on October 8, airing on Foxtel.
