Dark reason man murdered wife and kids

DAD-OF-THREE Alan Hawe butchered his entire family after he was caught pleasuring himself at the school where he worked while accessing pornography.

Hawe, 40, killed teacher wife Clodagh, 39, and children Liam, 14, Niall, 11 and Ryan, 6, before he killed himself, The Sun reports.

The deputy principal used knives, a hatchet and his bare hands to slay his family at their home near Co Cavan, in Ireland, before he took his own life on August 29 last year.

His inquest earlier this month heard he was "stressed" about losing his status as a respected pillar of the community - and The Sun then revealed it was his secret porn shame that he believed ruined his local reputation.

Hawe accessed porn on his laptop at the school.

Cavan Coroner's Court heard Hawe had attended counselling sessions before his heinous crime, telling his psychotherapist: "People think of me as a pillar of the community. If only they knew."

The inquest heard evidence of a dispute in work and marriage difficulties - but no clarity was shone on these issues during the two-day hearing.

Ms Hawe's family said after the verdict of unlawful killings and suicide that they were disappointed the inquest didn't address why the man wiped out his family.

The grieving family said: "We are aware that he was concerned at his imminent fall from that position and the breakdown of his marriage."

The Sun learned Hawe had a longstanding porn problem which affected both his work and marriage - and the man feared the dark secret coming out.

He had previously accessed sexually explicit material - causing difficulties in his relationship with Clodagh.

And in the lead-up to the murder-suicide, Hawe had been rumbled "resuming" his porn use, even in a school setting.

A source said: "It had caused difficulties within the marriage and then he had resumed it again."

Another said: "He had been found out."
