FCAC teams ready to race
FOR a whole 24 hours, thirty-five Fraser Coast Anglican College students in teams of three will take turns riding their custom-made and designed Human Powered Vehicles.
They are set to compete in the main event of the Maryborough Technology Challenge which is due to take place over the weekend of September 10 and 11, hosted by Maryborough State High School.
The annual tech challenge boasts over 1500 entrants from throughout Queensland.
The other events held during the weekend are the CO2 Dragsters, Robotics, Smilie Puchcarts, Solar Model Cars and Boats and the Cycle City Challenge.
Fraser Coast Anglican College has three teams competing in the HPV races, each in a different category.
This year marks the first year that the college has entered a team in the Tandem HPV race. The teams will be competing against a little over 100 teams as they have already breached the 100 entry cap.
The race is not counted by time, but by how many laps the team manages to complete during the 24-hour time period. The kids will be left worn out but what they take out of participating in the event will prove greater.
