Ferrari California drop-top comes with extra horses
THIS is one stunning automobile, the 2013 Ferrari California 30.
The California was first shown to the public at the 2008 Paris Motor Show, and it featured many world firsts.
They include the first front-mounted V8 in a Ferrari, the first Ferrari to feature a seven-speed dual-clutch automated-manual transmission, the first Ferrari available with a metal-folding hardtop roof, the first Ferrari to feature multi-link rear suspension and it was also the first Ferrari to feature direct petrol injection.
Ferrari then launched the California 30 in 2012, and it got its name because it has 30 more horsepower (22 kilowatts) and it is also 30 kilograms lighter than the previous California. This brings the kerb weight down from 1765 kilograms to 1735 kilograms. Some other differences include the exterior sport grills, 4 new types of aluminium and an increase of 19 Newton metres of torque (14 pound-feet of torque).
This extra power comes from the same engine as the previous California, a 4.3-litre, 32-valve V8, but instead of producing 333 kilowatts (453 horsepower) and 484 Newton metres of torque (358 pound-feet of torque), it now produces 355 kilowatts (483 horsepower) at 7750rpm and 505 Newton metres of torque (372 pound-feet of torque) at 5000rpm.
Connected to the engine is a seven-speed dual-clutch automated-manual transmission, with manual shifting paddles behind the steering wheel, which then sends all the power to the rear wheels.
This allows the California 30 to launch from 0-100kmh in just 3.8 seconds, and it will keep accelerating until it reaches its top speed of 312 kilometres per hour (194 miles per hour).
Some other features that this Ferrari is equipped with includes 20-inch, 10-spoke diamond finish alloy wheels wrapped in performance tires, a power retractable hardtop, double-wishbone front suspension and multi-link rear suspension, a front and rear stabiliser bar, four-wheel ABS as well as traction and stability control, self-leveling and dusk-sensing Xenon headlights, tyre pressure monitoring, electronic brake force distribution, front and rear parking sensors, Grigio Silverstone metallic paintwork, HELE stop/start technology, a carbon fibre trimmed engine compartment, Scuderia shields, a carbon fibre steering wheel with LED's, a full beige premium leather interior with front sport seats, dual-zone climate controls, satellite navigation and much more.
