Finals spots on line in NewsMail Cup

FOOTBALL: The Waves insist they will need to play at their best if they are to remain in contention to win a fourth straight NewsMail Cup.

The side will face Brothers Aston Villa in a semi-final tonight, in a repeat of the past two grand finals.

This time, though, only one will have a chance of winning the Cup.

"It's two quality teams against each other and we need to play well for the whole 90 minutes,” The Waves coach Jason De Papi said.

"We need to take our chances if we are to win in either normal or extra time.”

The sides have met twice this season and Villa won both games.

The Waves will face Brothers Aston Villa at 6pm at Martens Oval.
