UNDERTAKING an apprenticeship is a big decision, so you want to be sure you choose one that is matched to your unique abilities, interests and ambitions.

Apprenticeship Support Australia says working in a job that matches an individual's natural style will result in a more productive and rewarding career path.

The apprenticeship body offers a range of online tools to help you plan your career on their free career advice portal HERE.

These include a career quiz, information on more than 350 careers, informational videos and more.

If you're still at school, chat to your careers advisor or careers counsellor. They can give you information about opportunities for work experience, industry field days and other ways to explore the occupations you are matched with.

It is also useful to talk to friends, family and anyone who has a job you think you might enjoy.

Once you believe you have found the career that suits you, you can begin searching for apprenticeships through jobs notices and recruitment agencies.
