Fire crews work to contain blaze at Burrum

FIRE crews are working to control a vegetation fire this morning after it broke out at Burrum Heads on Wednesday afternoon.

Sixteen rural crews, an urban crew and Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service were called to the blaze near Ivor Dr and Burrum Heads Rd.

The fire is posing no threat to property at this time.

Residents in the area were affected by smoke into Wednesday evening.

When the urban crew from Maryborough arrived, Station Officer Andrew Madders said the blaze was intensifying about 4.30pm.

"Rural crews were doing back burns to try to contain the blaze," Mr Madders said.

Rural crews included firefighters from Tiaro and Dundowran.
