Firies rewarded for service

SOME Fraser Coast residents were happy to take possession of the keys to a brand new $500,000 Mercedes yesterday – the fact that it’s a fire truck did not make the occasion any less exciting.

A Mercedes Atego fire truck was handed over to the Maryborough fire brigade, along with Queensland Fire and Rescue Medals to Maryborough and Gympie officers.

Maryborough officers receiving awards were: Alan Saxby, who received a National Medal for 15 years’ service and First Clasp for 10 years’ service, Greg Walters and Graham Wex, who received a Diligent and Ethical Service Medal, and Paul Sealey and Bevin Warren, who received a Diligent and Ethical Service Medal for those who have retired.
