Five crash victims named

HERVEY Bay residents Helen Walker, Elizabeth Walker and Rex Loughton were among five members of the same extended family who died in a horror crash north of Howard.

Husband and wife Robert Walker and Lily Walker, who were from Forest Lake, also died in the crash

The four-wheel drive they were travelling in collided with a semi-trailer at about 3:45pm on Sunday.

The cause of the crash in unknown.

Officer in charge of the Wide Bay Forensic Crash Investigation Unit Sergeant Steve Webb said the truck driver had done the best he could to avoid the crash.

"He is obviously traumatised by the experience," he said.
