Five more potential Ekka E-coli cases
ANOTHER five Ekka-goers, including three children, may have contracted E-coli after patting animals at the Brisbane show, Queensland Health says.
A 33-year-old Brisbane woman and three children, aged six, 11 and 12, tested positive to the potentially deadly E-coli bacteria last Friday.
It is believed the initial four cases contracted the disease after visiting the Ekka's animal nursery.
A Queensland Health spokeswoman said another five possible infections were being investigated after new patients came forward with symptoms at the weekend.
A 68-year-old man is being treated for the possible infection at the Wesley Hospital, while a mother and three children are being monitored at home.
