The Flash S2E07: Gorilla Warfare review

*spoilers ahead if you haven't seen up to season two episode seven*

REVIEW: A few weeks ago I waxed lyrical about a short cameo from King Shark which was incredible, but nothing can compare to CW's work on bringing Gorilla Grodd to life.

Grodd, one of The Flash's greatest enemies, returned in Gorilla Warfare.

He looked incredible.

Considering budgets and how easy it could have been to be left with a cheap, tacky Grodd, The Flash's production staff deserve endless praise.

Grodd returned in a big way. He telepathically controlled two scientists to gain access to material, then kidnapped Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) using a similar method to get her to create more of him.

A big Gorilla Grodd army.

Meanwhile, Barry Allen (Grant Guston) was still reeling from a monumental battle with Zoom which left him with injuries that would have paralysed a regular person.

Who is your favourite character on The Flash?

Cisco Ramon

This is not a scientific poll. The results reflect only the opinions of those who chose to participate.

Barry was sidelined for most of this episode, and his lack of self-belief provided the perfect platform for his dad Henry Allen (John Wesley Shipp) to return.

His role was simply to give Barry enough of a pep talk to believe in himself. It gets a little old due to the regularity with which he feels down, but both actors are good enough to suspend that concern.

A few more things:

  • The plan to send Grodd through a breach was genius, but did he just end up at Grodd City? A haven for other failed scientific experiments sounds like that is going to be a very, very bad place.
  • Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) gained a lot more respect this week by donning the Reverse Flash suit and pretending to be Earth Prime's Wells (Grodd's "father"/creator). He was almost ground to pulp for his efforts but it was a valiant display.
  • Patty Spivot (Shantel VanSanten) knows Barry is lying, but how long until she learns about his alter ego?
  • Cisco (Carlos Valdes) had his date with Kendra (Ciara Renee) sorted but a poorly-timed vibe revealed a "birdman". He left abruptly but returned later to make amends. A kiss prompted another vibe, but this one revealed Kendra to be the mysterious "bird figure"…
