Flood-damaged pontoon being inspected and repaired

A PONTOON weighing 42 tonnes is being lifted on to the banks of the Mary River near the Lamington Bridge to survey flood damage.

Crews began lifting the parts of the pontoon, which each weigh eight tonnes, early on Wednesday morning using a 130 tonne crane.

The pontoon was among the infrastructure heavily damaged when the Mary River flooded in January and again in February.

It will fenced off while being inspected and repaired before it can be placed back in the river.
