Flood-damaged Woolworths reopening delayed until August
MARYBOROUGH residents will have to wait until late August before Woolworths reopens after extensive flood damage.
Located at the back of Queens Park, Woolworths was directly in the path of the rising Mary River during January's floods.
The store will be completely refurbished and the cost of the project will be in the vicinity of $5 million.
It was expected the project would be completed in late June but due to unexpected delays the date has been pushed back two months.
A Woolworths spokeswoman said work was progressing but taking longer than anticipated.
"We've finalised our design for the new internal fit out and some preliminary works have begun," she said.
"If everything goes to plan we hope to have the store open in late August."
