No flooding for Mary

FLOODING in the Gympie district is usually the signal for Maryborough residents to start watching the levels of the Mary River.

While that flooding did occur yesterday in Gympie the Bureau of Meteorology has informed the Fraser Coast that there is no need to be concerned.

The official word from the bureau yesterday morning was that the river level at Gympie was 13.29 metres and falling, which is about 3.39 metres over the Kidd Street Bridge.

While the bureau predicted the Mary River rises would extend downstream to Maryborough during today and tomorrow, the forecast was for the river to remain well below minor flood level.

As for the rain it seems the big wet is starting to dissipate with the forecast today for light showers.

The outlook for tomorrow is for moderate rainfalls only.
