Floral feast for all the senses

A KALEIDOSCOPE of colour greeted the crowd of more than 1500 that filed through the doors of Pialba’s Great Hall for the Hervey Bay Orchid Society’s Spring Show at the weekend.

Publicity officer Carol Jenkins said orchid societies from Bundaberg, Maryborough, Childers and Gympie joined the Bay group to display beautiful hybrid and species orchids from around the globe and vie for cash prizes in almost 50 categories.

She said the theme of the show was Year of the Tiger and the creative displays featuring ceramic tigers peeping between orchids impressed the visitors.

Ms Jenkins said the show included a special display by Hervey Bay Botanic Gardens Orchid House celebrating its 10th anniversary.
