Vandals spray hall with foam

A THICK layer of foam had to be scrubbed off the floors of the Maryborough Community Hall at the weekend after vandals ran riot with a fire extinguisher.

Committee member Frank Petto said the “shocking” mess was discovered on Saturday – only hours before a dance party was supposed to be held at the Ariadne Street hall.

“We had to cancel the party and move it somewhere else,” he said. “The mess was just too bad – the floor was completely white.

“It looks like somebody’s got in, taken the fire extinguisher and sprayed it everywhere and then left with it.”

Mr Petto said it was not the first time the Maryborough Community Hall – which is used for numerous sports, including basketball and table tennis, – had been vandalised.

“I spent two hours mopping and hosing the floor so we could still play table tennis on Sunday,” he said.

“Hopefully we’ll be able to install a security system. This rubbish needs to stop.”
