Harness Racing back on track

FOR the keen punters of the Fraser Coast who have been anxiously awaiting the new date for the cancelled harness race meeting at Maryborough track, they might want to head to Kilcoy for the Australia Day Races on January 26.

The event is set to be bigger and better than ever and has been hailed as “country racing at its best”.

There will be a full program of six races at Kilcoy, which is just north of Caboolture, on the day, and the fully grassed track is in superb condition for racing.

Leading country bookmakers Vince Aspinall, Con Searle, Tony Purvis, Terry Lucas, Jason Searle and Steve Schwenke will be operating on all races, local and interstate.

TAB facilities will also be available.

The program is sponsored and supported by many of Queensland’s leading studs, including Raheen Stud, Wattle Brae Stud, Clear Mountain Fairview Stud, Lyndhurst Stud and Craiglea Stud.

Food and drinks will be available at the track, along with bar facilities.

Fashions of the Field will be a highlight of the day.

The categories include Fillies of the Field, Fashions of the field, Best Bat, Junior Fashion (those under 15 years) and Best Aussie Outfit.

There will also be plenty of entertainment for the kids, with an animal nursery and face painting to entertain them.
