Foreshore finally gets its revamp

THE Hervey Bay foreshore work is in full swing, with sand scraping and vegetation clearing taking place in Torquay.

"The project included removing unsightly undergrowth near the Hervey Bay Sailing Club and replacing the turf and irrigation systems," said Fraser Coast Mayor Gerard O'Connell.

"The dunes behind the boardwalk will be replanted with a low-growing spinifex which will handle the tough conditions and stabilise the dunes but not grow too high to block views."

"Some of the cottonwoods bordering the jetty and beach access path were also trimmed. The rest of the vegetation bordering the park will be left intact."
