Former alderman turned comedian to headline seniors expo

COMEDIAN and former Hervey Bay alderman Kenny Bennett will headline entertainment at the Hervey Bay Seniors' Expo which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year.

The expo, at the Hervey Bay Baptist Church in Nikenbah, is on Friday, August 9, from 9am to 2pm.

Local entertainers will also appear on the day including the girls from Country Blue, Rob McCullough of Young Talent Time Fame and little Isabel Meg whose incredible vocals have gained a lot of attention.

There will also be lots to see outside with the return of the Maryborough Dog Obedience Training Group and demonstrations and displays from the Hervey Bay Village Museum.

The expo is an opportunity for people aged 50 years and more to find out about local services and products from businesses, government departments and community groups.

Organising committee member Julie de Waard said the exhibitor sites had sold out.

"There will more than 80 exhibitors sharing information about a range of things including health, transport, accommodation, legal, travel, keeping fit, plumbing, and activities available across the Fraser Coast," Fraser Coast councillor George Seymour said.

"There will be information about services as well as products that can assist the region's senior citizens.

The entry fee is $2, and shuttle buses will operate from Maryborough and Hervey Bay.

For more information, phone Ms de Waard on 4194 2441.
