Former Red Jonno Lance set to step into Israel Folau’s shoes

RUGBY union: Jonno Lance has been given the unenviable task of replacing the injured Israel Folau when the New South Wales Waratahs take on the Sharks this weekend in South Africa.

Folau was ruled out of Sunday's clash in Durban after injuring his throat in the win over the Rebels last weekend.

Lance (pictured), who won a Super Rugby title with the Queensland Reds, was one of six changes made by coach Michael Cheika and will make his Waratahs debut.

The Waratahs coach has also picked centre Rob Horne out of position on the wing, while Wycliff Palu returns to the starting side at No. 8.

In-form lock Kane Douglas has been relegated to the substitutes' bench, with Dave Dennis moving back to No. 6 and Jacques Potgieter returning to the second row.

Prop Benn Robinson will play loosehead prop, with Sekope Kepu shifting to tighthead and Paddy Ryan dropping back to the bench.
