Four students receive scholarships

FOUR young Maryborough High School students will be added to their school’s honour list after being awarded scholarships.

The Year 8 students had to undergo an application process, with a written statement from themselves and their former Year 7 teachers, to be awarded the scholarships.

Academic scholarships were awarded to Megan Kaufman and Nicholas Young.

A sporting scholarship was awarded to Jayden Zampech and a cultural scholarship to James Tennant.

Maryborough High School deputy principal Leanne Muston said the awards were introduced in 2009 and were funded by the school’s P and C association.

“The scholarship includes the cost of the School Resource Scheme Fee for Year 8 which is $150, entry into national academic competitions and their names added to the honour roll,” Ms Muston said.

“The applications were considered by a panel of three – the deputy principal, Year 8 co-ordinator and P and C president.

“Students are commended for the high quality applications submitted, which included positive endorsement from their primary school principal.

“It is anticipated that these students will continue to strive to excel.”
