Fraser Coast to get $10m out of $200m for disaster recovery

THE Fraser Coast Regional Council is expected to see an estimated $10 million from more than $200 million allocated to the Wide Bay region for disaster recovery.

In the State Budget handed down on Tuesday, $203.7 million was allocated to local councils in Wide Bay for disaster recovery and flood reconstruction.

The funds will be allocated through the National Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA), jointly funded by the State and Federal Government.

According to the Queensland Reconstruction Authority, the NDRRA funding would be based on approved damaged assets.

The QRA information shows this amounts to about $10 million of reconstruction works for the Fraser Coast.

The funding will be shared with councils such as the severely damaged Bundaberg and North Burnett areas.

The NDRRA also provides loans and grants for flood-hit primary producers, small businesses and not-for-profit groups.
