Fraser on the world radar
THE stunning lakes and beaches of Fraser Island have never looked better.
Renowned Australian travel bloggers Caz and Craig Makepeace visited the island at the weekend, sharing its beauty with the 340,000 followers of their blog, the 4.3 million who watch them on Pinterest and 41,000 friends on Facebook.
Craig said his family took the barge from River Heads over to the island, staying two nights at Eurong Beach Resort and enjoying the sights of 75 Mile Beach, the Maheno shipwreck, Eli Creek and many other popular sights on Fraser Island.
"It was spectacular," Mr Makepeace said.
With their daughters Kalyra and Savannah in tow, Craig described the family's visit to the island as a great family holiday.
They even saw migrating humpback whales from 75 Mile Beach.
Mr Makepeace said while they didn't spot any dingoes, they were told it wasn't the right time of year and the family had seen some on a previous visit.
A spokeswoman for Kingfisher Beach Resort said the travel bloggers had been brought to the island with help from Tourism and Events Queensland.
She said the images and words shared by the Makepeace family would raise the profile of Fraser Island immeasurably among their legion of fans.
The spokeswoman said the family had visited the island previously in May last year and Fraser Island featured regularly in their content on the blog as it was one of their favourite places in Australia.
