Fresh is best and that may influence our online buying
RESEARCHER David Harris has the plum job of looking into what the future is for people buying fresh produce over the internet.
With increasingly busy lifestyles and the growing popularity of online shopping among younger people, Mr Harris, a researcher at CQUniversity, is exploring whether buying groceries over the net could be a potential social issue.
"Our preliminary research found that people are more likely to buy pre-packaged goods and tinned food online rather than fresh produce," Mr Harris said.
"People might buy produce online because they don't have time to go into the store and check out the fruit and vegies."
Mr Harris said when buying fruit, people tended to pick it up and have a good look, before making a decision.
