Friends reunited as Nikenbah school celebrates centenary

FRIENDS were reunited in Hervey Bay at the weekend when former students and teachers gathered to celebrate Nikenbah State School's 100th anniversary.

The school, which opened on Aalborg Rd in 1913 with an enrolment of 32, was mothballed by the government in 1963.

Students were mostly children of local cane-farming families.

Former head teacher Fin Lawson said it was fantastic to see so many former students and their descendents on Saturday.
