From last to first

MARYBOROUGH'S Kyle Chay had a successful day at the Hervey Bay Motocross Club's sixth race meeting at Dundowran on Sunday.

He won the club's handicap feature race, starting from last to move into first spot with just one lap to go in the race.

He also won the senior lites event and the clubman class on the day.

Corey Abood was second in the senior lites and David Karney was second in the clubman class.

In the senior open, Dwayne Ford, a Hervey Bay rider who has just returned to the club, won the event.

Byron Bruggemann was second.

In the junior veterans class Maryborough's Scott Watson was first while Michael Horninge was second.

In the senior veterans event Maryborough's Mark Camilleri won and Peter Nichols came second. The clubman open event was won by Bruggemann while Ben D'Arcy finished second.

About 70 riders competed in the event, which was held on a difficult track, along with about 70 junior riders.

Despite the difficult conditions encountered, however, only one rider was injured and that was in a minor accident.

The rider fell from his bike, injuring his leg.

An ambulance was called but the rider suffered only minor injuries.
