Man stole fuel from 3 servos

THREE petrol stations ripped off by a Hervey Bay man on a road trip may recoup their losses after Eric James Musgrove appeared in the Maryborough Magistrates Court.

The 23-year-old was ordered to repay the service stations and was jailed for three months for each stealing offence.

He was also jailed for nine months for stealing electronic equipment from a car parked outside a Kawungan home in August.

The court heard Musgrove drove to South Rockhampton on October 17.

On the way he stopped at a service station at Apple Tree Creek and put $40 worth of fuel in his tank.

At South Rockhampton he filled up again with $30 fuel.

After heading home he stopped at Urangan for $58 more petrol.

Each time he filled up he told the operator he had forgotten his wallet and would return to pay – he never did.

Musgrove’s offending was a result of a drug habit, defence solicitor Travis George said.

Magistrate John Smith set Musgrove a parole release date of May 1. He was ordered to repay the petrol stations as well as $1930 to the owner of the car he stole from.
