Smash repairer tips off police to alleged hit-and-run driver
A DRIVER has been charged with offences relating to a hit-and-run after a Hervey Bay smash repair business alerted police to damage to a vehicle.
The charges related to a crash at 2.50pm on Saturday at the intersection of Colyton and Tavistock Sts, Torquay.
The driver of a blue car failed to give way and hit a Harley Davidson motorcycle with a pillion rider.
The passenger was taken to Hervey Bay Hospital in a stable condition.
After the tip-off, police went to Urangan Smash Repairs where the blue station wagon had been taken to be repaired.
The alleged offender was then given a notice to appear in court for failing to drive with due care and attention and leaving a crash scene. The driver was given a ticket for failing to give way.
Police had no details on the age, sex or suburb of the alleged offender.
