Hervey Bay geek revealed as TV show mystery millionaire

A HERVEY Bay man has dramatically outed himself as the secret millionaire on hit TV show Beauty and the Geek.

Nathan Hoad, who is the co-founder of social media site Kondoot, has joined the proud tradition of Fraser Coast geeks after Maryborough Beauty and the Geek star Lachlan Cosgrove won the series last year.

The audience had been aware there was a millionaire in the house but up until Nathan's decision to confide in his fellow cast members, it was a well-kept secret.

The former Urangan State High School student revealed his secret to his teammate, Jessica and best mates, fellow Queenslanders Jason and Kristy, after a 25-hour hugging challenge in last night's show.

Afterwards, his identity was revealed to the rest of the contestants.

There is a $100,000 grand prize for winning Beauty and the Geek but, understandably, Nathan had other motivations for wanting to go on the show.

"Something I've never had is the confidence to talk to people in the real world," he said of his decision to join the show.

"I've been able to hide behind a laptop screen for a long time."
