Get on your bikes for charity

MOMENTUM is building for the annual Hervey Bay Community Bank Tour de Bay Charity Bike Ride to be held on Sunday, October 31, to raise funds for the Hervey Bay Youth Mentoring Program.

Many people are looking forward to taking part, from bike enthusiasts to novices who have started training. People in the Bay are chatting about this fun day out with a community breakfast to follow at the finish line.

Brian Jessett, the ride's route designer, is a member of the Rotary Club of Hervey Bay Sunrise, a keen cyclist and an active member of the Fraser Coast Bicycle Users Group.

Brian has used his knowledge of the favoured cycling routes of Hervey Bay and his expertise to put this ride together to make it as interesting and as safe as possible for all participants.

The riders have a choice of three routes of 10km, 26km or 45km; riders will all follow the same route initially.

Rest stops have been strategically placed so that all riders will have ample opportunity to rest and refill water bottles. Suitable snacks will be available at each rest stop.

The 10km route has one rest stop, the 26km route has two and the 45km route has three rest stops.

The inaugural Hervey Bay Community Bank Tour de Bay Charity Bike ride is a joint effort between the Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre and the Rotary Club of Hervey Bay Sunrise.

Registration/sponsorship packages are available by emailing admin@hbnc.com.au, phoning 4124 3544 or by calling into the Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre at 57 Taylor Street, Pialba, or calling 4124 3544.

Get neighbours, friends and colleagues to sponsor you and raise money for the Hervey Bay Youth Mentoring Program.
