Get ready for me, Argentina: David Pocock

FORMER captain David Pocock has shaken off a knee complaint to take his place in the Wallabies' starting line-up for Sunday morning's Rugby Championship match against Argentina in Mendoza.

Pocock provided plenty of impact off the bench in last weekend's 24-20 win against South Africa, and comes into the starting XV for Michael Hooper, who drops back to the bench.

That change is one of seven made by coach Michael Cheika as he searches for his preferred line-up ahead of the World Cup.

Three of those were forced out by injury, with Will Genia (knee), Matt Giteau (sternum) and Rob Horne (calf) all receiving treatment back in Australia.

Waratahs halfback Nick Phipps will start in place of Genia, Brumbies centre Matt Toomua takes over from Giteau and Brumbies winger Joe Tomane replaces Horne.

Cheika has also given Bernard Foley a start in place of Quade Cooper at fly-half, while veteran Reds prop Greg Holmes will start for the green-and-gold for the first time since 2007, Sekope Kepu dropping to the bench.

Western Force stalwart Ben McCalman returns for his first game of the 2015 international season at No.8, Cheika saying everyone brought into the starting side had the chance to press their claims for the coming Bledisloe Cup clash against the All Blacks in Sydney.

Wallabies team: J Slipper, S Moore (c), G Holmes, W Skelton, R Simmons, S Fardy, D Pocock, B McCalman, N Phipps, B Foley, J Tomane, M Toomua, T Kuridrani, A Ashley-Cooper (v-c), I Folau. Reserves: T Polota-Nau, S Sio, S Kepu, D Mumm, M Hooper (v-c), N White, Q Cooper, K Beale.
