Get rid of your rubbish free

THE COUNCIL is asking Fraser Coast residents to help prepare for the storm season by clearing yards of rubbish and loose items.

To sweeten the deal, it is waiving dump fees at any local landfill site or transfer station this weekend.

People are encouraged to dump an average trailer load or up to two cubic metres of rubbish or recyclable household items over the two days.

Councillor Barb Hovard said it was a good opportunity for residents to get rid of anything in their yards that could cause damage or injury if blown about by strong winds.

“We’re encouraging residents to take stock of their back yards because one day, eventually, it is going to rain,” she joked.

“And when it does it’s going to come down in one huge storm.”

Sites at Nikenbah, Maryborough, Toogoom, Granville, Tinana, Burrum Heads, Howard, Bauple and Yengarie are included.
