EASTER Sunday celebrations at the Maryborough Golf Club saw more than 100 players take to the fairways and greens for a swing at the club's annual sporting challenge.

Maryborough Golf Club head professional Kevin Law said competition was fierce among the 29 teams of four who took advantage of a beautiful autumn day to get involved in the event.

Designed to expose groups not usually associated with the club and the game of golf to the sport, organisers asked people from other codes to form a team and enter.

"We had a wide spread of teams - hockey, soccer, even the Hervey Bay surf Life Saving Club put a team in so it's been a good day," Law said.

Law will provide a full report on the Maryborough Golf Club Annual Sporting Challenge in his Wednesday Chronicle column.
