Ghosts and gourmet food to feature in Weekender show

A FEAST of supernatural delights and gourmet food was on the menu for two film crews from Channel Seven's Queensland Weekender program who visited the Fraser Coast.

Chris "Buddha" Handy - the larger than life sporting icon and presenter for Queensland Weekender - experienced the darker side of Maryborough as a guest on its famous ghost tour last Monday night.

The next day, collectables and curious, coffee and culture were on Buddha's radar as he worked his way around the city's museums, coffee shops and second hand and collectables stores.

Fraser Coast Opportunities Tourism Manager Robbie Cornelius said a second film crew, with award winning chef and presenter Andrew Mirosch, was also in the region to feature a new Qld Rail Fraser Coast Gourmet Getaway Package.

"This great package combines the Fraser Coast's delicious seafood, bush tucker and local produce and gourmet cooking classes and a degustation dinner with the opportunity to experience the beauty of Fraser Island and the relaxed beach lifestyle of Hervey Bay," he said.

"It includes two nights at Kingfisher Bay Resort, two nights of cooking lessons and food appreciation at Villa Cavour in Hervey Bay, return travel on Queensland Rail and meals."

The episodes are expected to go to air in May.
