Golf day raises more than $2000 for rescue helicopter

MORE than $2000 has been raised for the AGL Action Rescue Helicopter service at a charity golf day in Hervey Bay hosted by Tourism Fraser Coast.

Robbie Cornelius, acting general manager of Tourism Fraser Coast, said more than 64 players participated in the Hervey Bay Golf and Country Club hit-out and networking event.

"Not only did it help a worthy cause in the AGL Action Rescue Helicopter, which provides such an important community rescue service for the region, but it brought local tourism and business operators together to share ideas and have some fun," he said.

Mr Cornelius said the event would not have been possible without the support of sponsors including the Wide Bay Motor Group which generously provided a new Mitsubishi Mirage as a hole in one prize.

"Unfortunately the prize did not go off but charity was the winner at the end of the day," he said.
