Good whiting despite weather
WITH windy conditions and lots of rain, anglers have been finding it hard to head out this past week.
Those who have braved the conditions have been rewarded with catches of parrot, blackall and cod on the shallow reefs.
There have been no reports from over the bar or gutters areas.
Those fishing the beaches have reported good catches of summer whiting with yabbies and worm being the best baits.
Shelly Beach has been the pick a couple of hours before and after high tide.
For those who have a boat, Moon Point on Fraser Island has been fishing well over the last couple of weeks for whiting and flathead, with the flathead being caught on soft plastics.
The Urangan pier has been producing good numbers of school mackerel along with golden trevally, bonito, flathead and the odd queenfish.
Mackerel have also been prolific around the beacons and shallow reefs.
